Panera: John, an update on romaine from our CEO.

Find out what Panera is doing to address the recall.   |  Web Version

Hi John!

Panera Bread

To our valued MyPanera members,

Food safety is important to us, and the welfare of you, our guests, is paramount. While we do everything we can to ensure the safety of the food we serve, when something happens, like the recent industry-wide issues affecting romaine lettuce harvested in Yuma, Arizona, we act quickly to remove the risk from our cafes.

From the moment the advisory was issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on April 13, 2018, we pulled all romaine originating from the Yuma growing region from our cafes, and began looking for a new source.

Today, you can rest assured that we are only sourcing our romaine from the Salinas, California area. That means that the lettuce now found in the salads on our menu is unaffected by the recall and not included in the CDC advisory.

We hope this helps to ease your mind, and invite you to come in and enjoy your favorite Panera salad again. And, if you still prefer to avoid romaine altogether, we encourage you to try salads made with our kale and radicchio blend instead.
